Board of Directors Update
          What’s New with ITNLanier?

We have opened our doors and have hit our 100 ride milestone!

Those who have dedicated themselves towards the opening of our doors are proud to state that we are now OPEN FOR BUSINESS!  As of April 25th, we have been providing rides across all of Hall County.  Since our last newsletter, we have accomplished the following…
  • Conducted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony April 25th at Lanier Tech Manufacturing Development Center with over 30 Chamber members, politicians, ITNLanier Board/Advisory Council and community leaders in attendance.

  • Hired Becky Nance as our office manager (see more about Becky below!).

  • Have 22 committed and trained volunteer drivers.

  • Had our first annual ITNLanier Ride 4 Seniors Poker Run and Car Show on April 30th at Wild Wings Cafe parking lot in Gainesville.

  • Seeking more riders through community, civic and healthcare forums.  (110 doctor’s offices, hospitals, clinics, etc. have expressed interest in using our services.)

  • Have our first video promotion with testimonials

  • And hit our first 100 RIDE MILESTONE!
In addition we are pleased that we are the official 28th affiliate of ITNAmerica…the first affiliate in the state of Georgia! WE NEED YOU!  Please join us in serving our older population to help them remain active, healthy and independent by donating to this new non-profit. Your donation is tax deductible and will make a difference in our community. Or call us and volunteer to drive.  Learn more in this newsletter on how to do both.

Thanks to those who have contributed to this effort to date and special thanks to our major donors and the 23 Board of Directors and Advisory Council who have been donating countless volunteer hours and funds to get us to this point.

An ITN Success Story
Why Senior Transportation Is So Important?

Trips for medical purposes make up 50% of the rides delivered by ITNLanier.  These trips can be for routine visits, for tests, and even for minor procedures.  Timely visits to physicians are critical to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  These visits can give early warnings of more critical situations before they develop.

Dr. Henry Lewis had a patient recently who discovered early stage cancer as a result of a routine test.  Dr. Lewis said "ITNLanier probably saved my patient's life by getting him to a cancer screening test in a timely manner."  The patient had delayed the test due to lack of transportation.  By joining ITNLanier as a member, the patient was able to travel to what turned out to be a very important test.
Welcome to Becky Nance
ITNLanier Office Manager

Becky Nance is ITNLanier’s newest employee and a long-time resident of Gainesville and Hall County.

Becky grew up in Gainesville and went to Gainesville City Schools.  She is the mother of two daughters who also live in Gainesville and one son who lives in Marietta.  She is the proud grandmother of nine.  Becky states, "ITNLanier came along at the right time and is a great fit for me.  I was fortunate enough to be hired and am enjoying getting to know our members and our volunteers."

Becky worked in banking for the last 15 years and became interested in working with a non-profit organization to benefit the community and feel like she could contribute in some way.  She has been associated with non-profits before as a volunteer and really enjoyed her time giving back to the community.  Now as ITNLanier’s Office Manager, Becky works hard to connect riders with volunteer drivers and ensure they have a quality, safe, comfortable ride to and from their destinations. The ITNLanier Board of Directors and Advisory Council are delighted to add Becky to our team!
Comments from a Member

Barbara Holcomb is one of our most active members.  She is pictured with Byron Drew, one of our volunteer drivers, on the way to an appointment.

Barbara states that she has been so impressed with the wonderful service she has received from ITNLanier since becoming a member.  Barbara said "I am enjoying my independence again after having problems with my vision.  All the drivers are great and so friendly."

Another comment from Barbara was "ITNLanier has been the solution to one of the hiccups of being a senior citizen."

We Need Your Help!

Please consider contributing to ITNLanier, Hall County’s newest senior transportation program.

We currently have 22 drivers and 35 rider members. We are receiving frequent phone calls and emails from seniors or their caregivers who need our service. The Board has adopted a conservative business plan and is working in the community to gain support.  Consider donating to our scholarship funds to help those who cannot afford to pay for their transportation.  Or help us meet our goals to provide 900 rides in the first year by supporting our operations. We are asking you to join us in this important new program for Hall County seniors who can no longer drive.

Please take the time now to make a donation to help us continue to serve the transportation needs of our members.

Free Eyecare Trips

Thanks to the generosity of Regeneron, all eyecare trips provided by ITNLanier are now free.  Any trips that you take that are eyecare related will automatically be charged to Regeneron. This is a free benefit to being an ITNLanier Member.

Scholarships

ITNLanier has a limited number of scholarships available to support members who cannot afford to pay the full cost of their transportation.  Please contact Becky at (678) 696-0360 for details on how to apply for a scholarship.
